My name is Bill Keenan and I am the Principal workplace health and safety consultant and owner of OptSafe. I am a member of the Australian Institute of Health and Safety and I have 35 year’s experience as a safety professional (30 years as a State Inspector with SafeWork NSW the NSW Safety Regulator and 5 years as a Safety Consultant).
My goal is to help you maintain a safe and healthy environment for your workers and other people who may be at your workplace to minimise the financial risk to your business from costly workers compensation claims, public liability claims and civil / government litigation from accidents that result in serious injuries.
Currently in Australia multi-million dollar penalties (Dreamworld WHS prosecution) and gaol sentences (Gaol sentence for Western Australia MT Sheds director) are being imposed by the courts against company's and directors / senior executive managers for serious workplace safety breaches that result in the death or serious injury to a worker or other person at a workplace.
I have the experience to help you make a difference to workplace health and safety in your business in a very practical way; by supporting you to improve your organisation’s safety culture, identifying any high risk activities that require corrective action, improving safety through site inspections and increasing the practical knowledge within your business of ‘What Compliance Looks Like”.
I can assist you to better understand from a practical perspective, the Work Health and Safety legislation, your company's safety duties and responsibilities as well as your 'Due Diligence' responsibilities as an 'Officer' of a company.
The experience I have gained over many years investigating workplace fatalities and serious injuries, attending Coronial Inquests and through my involvement as an investigating Inspector with the subsequent legal action in the Industrial Courts enables me to provide practical compliance advice to your business.
I am permanently based in Kingston near Hobart and am able to provide a professional workplace health and safety consultancy service to Tasmanian business and public sector organisation’s, as well as those organisation’s located throughout mainland Australia.
